Taikai Tairei 泰令 (Japan, 1880-1971)
Writing case (suzuribako), the lid decorated in hira maki-e gold, silver, copper and kirigane lacquer on a green lacquer and nashiji ground with maple leaves and chrysanthemums (kiku) in mist. The interior in lacquer imitating a patinated lacquer, with an ink stone and a round mizuhire as well as two brushes. Signed Tairei in gold lacquer on the reverse of the lid.
Size: 23 x 12.5 cm
Wooden storage box (tomobako), inside dated Showa 11 (1936) and signed Tairei zo and stamp.
