Okamoto Kōsai 岡本光斎 (Japan, 1957-) Fundame lacquer tea pot (natsume) decorated in hira maki-e with gold lacquer and kirikane of waterfalls in a mountainous landscape. Interior in nashiji lacquer. Fukusa with Kōsai stamp H. 7.2 cm Storage box (tomobako), inscribed 'O natsume, cascade, water and mountain at maki-e' and signed Kōsai and stamp. Okamoto Kōsai was a lacquer artist from Ishikawa prefecture. He was a student of Omote Masanori, who taught him lacquer techniques in the Kaga style.
