Nakayama Yukihiko 中山幸比古 (Japan, 1956-)
Round incense (kōgō) box in red lacquer, gold, hirame and mother-of-pearl inlay in the shape of a peony. The interior in nashiji with togidashi decoration of butterfly.

Storage box (tomobako), inscribed "Peony maki-e kōgō", signed Yukihiko and stamped.
A maki-e lacquerer from Kaga, born in Yamanaka-cho, in the town of Kaga, Ishikawa prefecture. In 1982, he obtained the title of maki-e technician and was designated as an important intangible cultural asset. Two years later, he took over the management of the Nakayama studio, a maki-e workshop founded by the first Nakayama Yumori (born in 1922) at Minami-chō Yamanaka Onsen, in the town of Kaga, Ishikawa prefecture. In 1989, he founded Nakayama Shikkō (Nakayama lacery).
