Based on a Roman work from the 1st century
Galvanoplastic reproduction in silver-plated metal, the decoration represents Achilles on his chariot and Achilles dying in front of the walls of Troy.
Galvanoplastic reproductions, following those by Christofle authorised by Napoleon III, of the ewer from the Berthouville treasure discovered in 1830 in Bernay, kept in the medals cabinet of the Bibliothèque nationale (inv.56.4 and 56.5).
