Pharmacy scale Apothecary's trebuchet scale, mounted on a wooden stand with a drawer. Adorned with a large figure in patinated metal representing the goddess Hygie dressed in antique style and holding a large snake. The arm of the scale rests on her head. France, early 19th century H. 44 (without base) - 53 (with base) cm. The goddess Hygie is the goddess of hygiene, health and preventive medicine. She is the daughter of Aesculapius, the god of medicine, and Epione, the goddess of health. Her traditional attribute is a large snake, which she usually holds wrapped around her arm.
