Description
Wooden chest of drawers with a stepped front, made from various types of wood and veneer Featuring three drawers in three rows, decorated with rosewood marquetry, stained wood and zigzag-patterned rosewood fillets. The straight, bevelled side panels are adorned with cascading floral garlands. The front legs are slightly arched, accented with acanthus-leaf-shaped feet, whilst the rear legs are straight. The crossbar is adorned with a ‘cul de lampe’ motif in gilded bronze. Gilded bronze ornamentation includes lock plates, pull rings, pendants and feet. Top in grey Saint-Anne marble. Transitional period, third quarter of the 18th century H.: 86 – L.: 118 – D.: 47 cm. (Minor wear to the marquetry, a few scratches on the marble; the bronze fittings are probably later additions).
