Inspired by Gustave Flaubert’s novel *Salammbô*, this work depicts the Carthaginian priestess in one of her most iconic moments. Devoted to the goddess Tanit, Salammbô is shown here entwined with a sacred serpent, a symbol of divine power, fertility and mystery.
