Bronze grandfather clock with a brown and gilded patina Depicting a horseman on his horse. The rectangular base is adorned with gilded bronze ornamentation featuring a stylised foliage motif. Guilloché dial, probably formerly enamelled, with applied Roman numeral hour markers and a trident-shaped hand. Mechanical movement with manual winding via keys, signed ‘Pons à Paris’. The original wire balance spring has been replaced by a blade balance spring. Charles X period, 1824–1830. H.: 57 – W.: 32 – D.: 13.5 cm. (Dial damaged; the attachment to the hand and one numeral are missing; the base requires reinforcement; damage and missing parts to the rider and horse).
