Description
L. GIRIBALDI, after Jean-François LELEU A substantial chest of drawers modelled on a royal design Wood and rosewood veneer; the delicately curved front opens to reveal three drawers without a crossbar; the half-fluted side panels are finished with gilt-bronze scroll and acanthus leaf clasps, resting on tapered baluster-shaped legs. The projecting side panels are similarly decorated. The top drawer features rich gilded bronze fittings with a frieze decoration of intertwined vine tendrils; the lock plates are adorned with mascarons set within a foliage border, and the pull rings feature a ribboned rush motif. Stamped ‘L.GIRIBALDI’ and bearing the fire-marked ‘FD’ within a shield. White marble top. Louis XVI style, c. 1900 H.: 89 – W.: 150 – D.: 62 cm (Slight lifting of the veneer, minimal signs of wear).
