Rome: THE SIXTUS BRIDGE IN ROME Bronze casting (40.5 mm), weight 32.88 g. Obverse: Bust of Pope Sixtus IV (1471–1484) facing left. Reverse: View of the Sixtus Bridge. Pope Sixtus IV commissioned the architect Baccio Pontelli to use the ruins of Agrippa’s bridge to build a new bridge linking to St Peter’s. The bridge was inaugurated in 1475. Condition: This original late 15th-century coin is rarely found in such good condition: a fine TTB with a few marks on the edge.
