This effigy of the financier, State Councillor, founder of the École Militaire and friend of the Marquise de Pompadour, is a limited bust adaptation of the three-quarter-length portrait by Louis-Michel van Loo engraved by Aveline, of which there are several examples in 20th-century auctions, museums and private collections.
