Description
Cristal de Nancy, VASE in lined crystal with acid-etched floral design, signed Georges RASPILLER. Stamped Cristal de Nancy. H: 25 cm
[Information from the Art Lorrain website: Georges RASPILLER (1862-1952) began his training in 1900 with Emile Gallé and then, after 1904, worked in the Gallé workshops until the 1914 War.
He then became an independent designer around 1915 or in 1919, after the Great War. He created designs on "blanks", the exact origin of which is not known (perhaps the Etablissements Gallé, as the glass used had an identical structure), but which were systematically signed G. Raspiller, engraved with acid. From 1921-1922, he also produced a few engraved models from doubled decorative glass from the "Cristalleries de Nancy" where he was employed, but he also developed a small complementary artistic production for his own account].
