A significant gilded and patinated bronze clock with a rotating dial depicting the triumph of love over time The figure of the naked Chronos brandishes his scythe and faces Eros, who stands amidst the clouds, brandishing an arrow to indicate the time on two rotating enamelled discs bearing Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, set within a star-studded, blue-tinted sphere. Standing beside him is Hymen, holding a torch and the hourglass of time. The whole rests on a substantial stepped base of white marble, decorated with friezes of heart-and-arrow motifs, interlaced foliage and cherub mascarons on the sides.
