Description
BARBEDIENNE, foundryman. Large bronze cast after PRAXITELES (-395/–326 BC) depicting the Diana of Gabies (Artemis). Cast with a brown patina, marked “F. BARBEDIENNE foundry” and stamped with the mark “A.Collas mechanical reproduction”. H. 53 cm. Discovered in 1792 at Gabies, Italy; the original is housed in the Louvre Museum.
