Estimate €1,000 - €1,500
Description
GILBERT ALBERT A pair of 18k white gold earrings (750°/°°) with a textured surface featuring a naturalistic design surrounding a cultured pearl. Gross weight: 20.88 g. Gilbert Albert (1930–2019) was a Geneva-based jeweller whose career began at Patek Philippe in 1955 under the guidance of Henri Stern. There, he developed an innovative approach to forms and volumes, before founding his own workshop in Geneva in 1962. His work is characterised by sculptural and spectacular jewellery that combines gold and precious stones with materials sourced from the natural world, such as meteorites, fossils, minerals and shells. A ten-time winner of the Diamonds International Awards, Gilbert Albert has established himself as one of the leading figures in Swiss jewellery design of the second half of the 20th century. Bibliography: Press pack for the retrospective exhibition at the Geneva Museum of Art and History, held from 10 July to 15 November 2020.
