HERMES Paris ‘Mistigri’, based on a design by Jean Cocteau, circa 1965. A striking and rare pendant brooch in textured and chiselled 18k yellow gold (750°/°°), with the eyes set with navette-cut emeralds. Signed, with the hallmark of master goldsmith Jean Thierry Bondt. Partially legible number engraved with a point, ending in 94. 5.6 x 4.6 cm. Height including bail: 6 cm. Gross weight: 37.14 g. The brooch fastening is not original. Provenance: private collection. Jean Thierry Bondt Engraved in 1948. He worked primarily for Boucheron but also for Sterle. Bibliography: Remy Verlet, Dictionary of Jewellers, Jewellery Makers and Goldsmiths in France, from 1850 to the present day, published by the École des Arts Joailliers, p. 297. This brooch exists in several versions, with or without diamonds, the eyes set with rubies, sapphires or emeralds.
