William WYLD (London 1806-1889), 10 May 1833 Two Views of a Riverbed in Algiers Watercolours, gum arabic, scratches on black pencil lines Annotated top centre in pen and black ink: "Algiers May 10 October 1833, n°270, Banks of the ... ? Corners cut, slightly oiled, small stains, pasted in full on a mount. One framed. 20 x 34.8 cm Provenance : Workshop sale stamp lower right (L.2587b) Two other views of Algiers Algiers was one of the destinations that most inspired Wyld. There are no fewer than thirteen watercolours (of which ours were probably one) and two paintings relating to Algiers in the sale of his studio collection.
