Description
[Manuscript]. [DURU (Louis-Maximilien)]. Nocturnes and religious harmonies. By the author of the *Bibliothèque historique de l’Yonne*. [c. 1860].
In-4, [2] folios (frontispiece-title page, title page), [2] blank folios, [94] folios (some blank), contemporary fawn half-calf, smooth spine, black title label, gilt scrolls, embossed fleurons, label at the tail (minor rubbing; very slight foxing).
A collection of poems, most likely unpublished; the pieces are dated from the 1830s to the 1850s. A very neat manuscript in ink on paper, on both the front and back sides. Enclosed are two short handwritten pieces entitled ‘Harmonie IX’ and ‘Harmonie X’, and a poem published in the press under the name (pseudonym?) ‘L. de Clomaillé’, in two versions, one of which is a corrected proof.
Abbé Motheré, in his work ‘Vie de Louis-Maximilien Duru’ (Monterault-Fault-Yonne, Zanote, 1871), refers to this manuscript on p. 273.
