HEURLEY (A.), FEBRE (Andoche). The Cure Valley. Photographs by A. Heurley & A. Febvre. Text by Andoche Febvre. Avallon, Impr. Barré, 1877. Oblong folio, contemporary red percaline binding, gilt title on the upper cover; spine replaced with modern adhesive (foxing, faded prints). A rare album illustrating a very beautiful part of Burgundy. It is composed as follows: [4] leaves (half-title, title page, introduction), 63 pages (text), and [39 (out of 40?)] plates of photographs, mounted and captioned (modern numbering from 1 to 12, 12a, 14 to 37, 39 to 40) except for 38), 2 smaller photographs (at the beginning and end of the text). The photograph intended for the title page is missing. Almost all the photographs in this copy have been covered with a modern print attached with tabs. Enclosed are: - a copy of the text in the publisher’s binding, on heavy paper, without illustrations (contains only one photograph on the cover). - A copy of the text on thin paper, in the publisher’s binding, without illustrations. - 17 miscellaneous loose photographs, including 2 photographs of the book mounted on captioned strips.
