Maximilien LUCE (1858–1941) Mévisto (La Scala), 1897 Original colour lithograph on fine vellum Signed on the plate Dimensions 39 x 29 cm The sheet bears the publisher’s stamp, and the lithograph is also authenticated by the dry stamp of the publisher, L’Imprimerie Chaix. The first edition was produced in 1891 for the play “Mévisto” at La Scala The lithograph was published by Les Maîtres de l’Affiche at Imprimerie Chaix in 1897. It formed part of the eponymous portfolio (plate no. 139), which featured reproductions of the finest illustrated posters by the great artists of the time.
