18K yellow gold (750/1000) pocket watch, known as a ‘tuxedo’ watch. Square case. Léon Hatot’s maker’s mark. Patented case with bezel screwed from the inside. Press-fit caseback.
Flinqué-guilloché dial with Roman numeral hour markers and railway-track minute track. Signed “Lacloch Frères” (the ‘E’ in Lacloche is missing). Blued steel hands.
Mechanical movement bearing Alexandre Brédillard’s master’s hallmark on the patina beneath the dial. Movement numbered 83428.

Lacloche established a presence in London from 1904 until the interwar period. As regards the dating of our model, the horse’s head hallmark used until 1919, as well as the master’s hallmarks of Léon Hatot for the case and Alexandre Brédillard for the movement, indicate that it was manufactured in France. The import hallmarks bearing the London mark allow us to date the watch to around 1912.
As for the coat of arms on the case back, it belongs to the Nall-Cain; they were registered in 1928 and changed in 1933, which leads us to believe they were added when the family obtained them in the late 1920s.
The collaboration of three of the most renowned names in fine watchmaking from the early 20th century – Léon Hatot, founder of the ATO brand and a great innovator; Alexandre Brédillard, who worked for Cartier, Verger and other prestigious houses such as Lacloche Frères, as seen here – lends this watch its exceptional character.
