CARTIER London Tank Normale, circa 1961 18k yellow gold wristwatch. Rectangular case. Screw-down caseback, numbered on the inside and outside. English hallmarks: Jacques Cartier. Cabochon crown. White dial (repainted). Baton hour markers. Baton hands. Cartier Inc mechanical movement based on the Jaeger-LeCoultre K821. Leather strap with a gold-plated Cartier pin buckle (added later). Dimensions: 23 x 31 mm. Lug-to-lug width: 18 mm. Gross weight: 29.86 g The ‘normal’ Tank is the model most faithful to the 1917 design. The term first appeared in Cartier’s catalogues to distinguish this original design from the variants created subsequently. Production of the Tank remained very limited until the 1970s. The combination of this rarity amongst Tank watches – even more so for those from the London workshops – together with the distinctive layout featuring baton hour markers and hands, gives our model its unique appeal.
