RARE EGYPTIAN LAPIS LAZULI AMULET OF SOBEK. Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC. A lapis lazuli amulet of the crocodile-headed god Sobek, carved in profile as a squatting figure with the legs drawn under and the feet set flat, the forearms raised to grasp an ankh before the chest, the head crowned with a sun disc fronted by a uraeus. The reverse is flat. Size: 82mm x 40mm; Weight: 29g Provenance: Private UK collection; London art market; formerly in R.H. private collection, Switzerland, 1980s-2007. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
