Description

EGYPTIAN FAIENCE MUMMIFORM ANUBIS. Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC. A faience mummiform figure of Anubis standing on a small rectangular base, with a tapering body and a broad collar of square beading at the chest. The jackal head rises above a short neck with an elongated muzzle and tall, erect ears. A circular perforation passes through the left shoulder, and another is pierced through the left side of the base. Size: 79mm x 16mm; Weight: 13g Provenance: Private UK collection; London art market; formerly in R.H. private collection, Switzerland, 1980s-2007.
