STUNNING EARLY GREEK GOLD NECKLACE WITH LION-SHAPED PENDANTS.
Ca. 1200 - 800 BC.
A gold necklace restrung with nine sheet-gold pendants in the form of lions shown frontally, each suspended from a collar of ribbed tubular beads. Each animal plaque is modelled in low relief with almond-shaped eyes, a short muzzle, a mane and indicated forepaws; a separate loop projects above the head and a small loop is set at the lower edge; the reverses are plain.
