GREEK GOLD AND RED GARNET CABOCHON APPLIQUÉ.
Ca. 400 - 200 BC.
A gold appliqué centred by a rosette of cabochon garnets. The stones are set in circular cells around a larger central cabochon framed by a filigree star shape. A narrow beaded fillet encircles the composition, within a broad outer border of radiating petals edged with twisted wire. Each petal ends in a small domed boss.
