HELLENISTIC GREEN CUT GLASS SKYPHOS.
Ca. 300 - 200 BC. A Greek green cut glass skyphos with vertical walls that taper towards the rim and a splayed circular foot. The bowl features integral ring handles formed between projecting plates. The upper has a forked terminal, whilst the lower is rounded. This vessel was produced using casting techniques and was then lathe-cut and polished. The skyphos was the most valuable vessel in the Greek and early Roman eras. For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Accession Number 17.194.94. Size: 80mm x 180mm; Weight: 210g. Provenance: Property of a European collector, acquired on the European art market pre 2000. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy.
