VERY FINE LEFT CHEEKPIECE OF PHRYGIAN BRONZE HELMET.
Ca. 350 - 300 BC.
A hammered bronze left cheekpiece from a Phrygian-type helmet, worked in one piece and subtly embossed with shallow S-shaped ridges on the exterior. The outline follows the jawline with stepped cut-outs for the eye and cheek. A pair of such guards would have been hinged to either side of the helmet rim.
