STUNNING GREEK BRONZE SITULA ATTACHMENT IN THE FORM OF A SILENUS HEAD.
Ca. 400 - 300 BC.
A bronze situla handle terminal cast as a bearded mask of Silenus, surmounted by two circular fixing holes. Wavy hair sweeps back from a low forehead and curls at the temples. Arched brows sit over slightly closed eyes and a straight nose. A thick moustache and layered beard frame a wide circular spout.
