APULIAN RED-FIGURE LEKANIS WITH WAVE MOTIF. Ca. 350 BC. A red-figure lekanis comprising a shallow bowl with opposed horizontal strap handles on a low moulded foot, fitted with a domed lid surmounted by a tall stemmed disc knob. The rim of the lid bears a continuous wave pattern, the upper field decorated with scrolling tendrils around a central palmette on the upper face of the disc-knob finial. The rim of the bowl is encircled by a zone of vertical strokes.
