APULIAN RED-FIGURE PELIKE WITH OFFERING SCENE. Ca. 350 BC. A terracotta red-figure pelike with a broad everted rim, twin strap handles set on the shoulder, a rounded body, and a low foot. Side A depicts a seated male, the left hand extended with a phiale of offerings and the right holding a wreath. Side B shows a standing woman extending a phiale and holding a tympanum in her other hand. Large scrolling palmettes rise beneath the handles, a laurel band ornaments the neck, and reserved lines run above the foot. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 1977,0522.33. Size: 160mm x 135mm; Weight: 460g Private London collection; previously acquired on the Belgian art market; originally in the collection of P Marchal, Brussels, 1990’s. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy.
