COLLECTION OF APULIAN XENON WARE VESSELS.
Ca. 330 - 300 BC. A collection of three Xenon ware vessels, including, from left to right: a stemmed kantharos with high rounded handles and an ovoid body on a conical foot, the walls decorated with a running hound in added red on the black glaze; an olpe with a broad mouth and a strap handle from rim to shoulder, the globular body decorated with an owl between upright foliate panels; and a small kantharos with opposed loop handles and a ring foot, the shoulder bearing a frieze: on one face a band of paired laurel leaves, on the other alternating circles and crosses.For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Object Number: 1971.11.13; J.
