STUNNING HELLENISTIC GOLD RING WITH CARNELIAN INTAGLIO DEPICTING HORSE IN OPENWORK.
Ca. 300 - 200 BC.
A carnelian intaglio finely engraved with a horse advancing left, above a groundline. The arched neck with a neatly arranged mane and the head slightly inclined. Set in an oval gold collet with a beaded rim, and mounted to an openwork gold hoop with a central undulating wire flanked by filigree braids and plain outer edges.
