Description

APULIAN RED-FIGURE SKYPHOS WITH LADY OF FASHION. Ca. 325 - 300 BC. A red-figure skyphos with a straight rim, horizontal handles set high on the wall, a tapering body and a moulded ring foot. Each side shows a female head in profile, the so-called Lady of Fashion, framed by large scrolling tendrils and a central palmette; a frieze of ovolo runs below the rim. Size: 85mm x 145mm; Weight: 165g Private London collection; previously acquired on the English art market; originally in the collection of W Jenikin, London 1980’s.
