PAIR OF MATCHING HELLENISTIC GOLD EARRINGS WITH RED GARNET CABOCHONS. Ca. 300 - 1 BC. A matched pair of gold earrings, each with a wire hoop suspending a pendant set with a garnet cabochon; both in high collets bordered by a beaded wire frame with sloping inner walls. Each finished with a small spherical terminal and a soldered loop. For similar see: E. M. De Juliis, Gli Ori di Taranto in Età Ellenistica, Cat. 78. Size: 21-21mm x 16-17mm; Weight: 2.4g Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in Belgium; formerly in a German private collection before 2000.
