Description

PAIR OF GREEK GOLD BOAT-SHAPED EARRINGS WITH GRANULATION. Ca. 500 - 300 BC. A matched pair of gold boat-shaped earrings, each formed with a hollow body surmounted by a high arched wire hoop secured into short collar sleeves at the terminals. The faces are decorated with beaded fillets and ovoid bosses, the ends capped by circular pads with clusters of granules. For similar see: E. M. Size: 21-22mm x 14-14mm; Weight: 3g Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in France in the early 2000s; formerly in a Swiss private collection formed in the 1980s and 1990s.
