Description

GNATHIAN BLACK-GLAZED POTTERY PROCHOUS. Ca. 350 - 300 BC. A black-glazed pottery prochous with a piriform body on a stepped disc foot, a tall, tapering neck, an oblique tubular spout with a moulded collar, and a high strap handle rising above the rim and returning to the shoulder with small lateral knobs. The surface is decorated in added white, yellow, and red: on the neck with ovolo and chevron bands, and on the body with zones of lanceolate leaves, a rosette within a panel, and a wavy band.
