COLLECTION OF GREEK AND BYZANTINE TERRACOTTA OIL LAMPS WITH MOULDED DECORATION.
Ca. 100 BC - AD 600.
A collection of three terracotta oil lamps, including, from left to right: a pear-shaped lamp with a high stump handle, a central filling hole within a single moulded ring, a short tubular nozzle with round wick hole, and an underside stamped with a quincunx of ring-and-dot impressions in a circular recess; an oil lamp with circular shoulder framed by a moulded ring, a long narrow tubular nozzle with round wick hole, and a plain base; a circular lamp with pointed rear lug, the shoulder moulded with rows of pellets, the filling hole within a raised ring and the base with a circular recess.
