ROMAN LEAD SARCOPHAGUS PLAQUE DEPICTING TWO EMPERORS.
Ca. AD 100 - 150.
A cast lead plaque of ovoid outline in low relief, presenting two confronting imperial busts with short curled hair and well-defined features. Each wears a mantle arranged in concentric folds across the chest, secured by a circular fibula at the left shoulder. The reverse is plain.
Size: 145mm x 105mm; Weight: 650g
Provenance: Private Swiss collection, acquired on the European art market pre-2000.
