ROMAN (OR LATER) RED JASPER INTAGLIO DEPICTING EROTIC SCENE IN GOLD RING. Ca. AD 1 - 300 (or later). A red jasper intaglio engraved with two nude figures standing left, one behind the other. The forward figure leans against a short column. A vertical spray of small fronds rises in the right field. Set in a gold ring of a possibly later period with an oval cell on a flat-topped bezel plate, the broad shoulders tapering to a narrow flat-section hoop. Size: D:18.75mm / US: 8 3/4 / UK: R; Weight: 6.63g Provenance: Private central London collection; previously acquired on the UK art market before 2000. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
