LARGE ROMAN GOLD RING WITH AMETHYST INTAGLIO DEPICTING SERAPIS. Ca. AD 1 - 100. An amethyst intaglio engraved with the bust of Serapis, shown frontally with a modius headdress, long wavy hair and a full beard. Set in an oval gold ring with a narrow raised rim. The broad shoulders narrow towards the back of a D-sectioned hoop. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 1987,0212.118.
