ROMAN (or later) RED JASPER INTAGLIO DEPICTING EROTIC SCENE IN GOLD RING. Ca. AD 1 - 300 (or later). A red jasper intaglio engraved with two nude figures, seated face to face with bent legs on a low support. Set in a gold ring with an oval cell on a flat-topped bezel plate, the broad shoulders tapering to a narrow flat-section hoop. Size: D:17.93mm / US: 7 3/4 / UK: P; Weight: 8.5g Provenance: Private central London collection; previously acquired on the UK art market before 2000. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
