ROMAN BANDED AGATE INTAGLIO WITH ANT IN GOLD RING. Ca. AD 1 - 300. A banded agate convex intaglio engraved with an ant in profile within the dark central stratum. Set in a substantial rectangular gold box bezel, the flanks are embellished with a single row of applied pellets. The bezel is set on a ring with a broad flat hoop.
