COLLECTION OF ROMAN BRONZE AND IRON SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS.
Ca. AD 1 - 300.
A collection of five bronze and iron surgical instruments, including, from left to right: a bronze spoon with an ovoid bowl on a slender stem finished in a moulded baluster terminal; a knife with a broad lunate iron blade socketed into a cast bronze handle; a knife with a narrow iron blade set into a similar bronze handle; a scalpel-spatula with an iron blade above a slim bronze grip terminating in an ovoid spatulate end; and a small knife with a tapering iron blade and a bronze handle with stepped mouldings and a small knop terminal.
