ROMAN GOLD INTAGLIO RING DEPICTING A SHRIMP.
Ca. AD 100 - 200.
A small red carnelian intaglio engraved with a shrimp, the arched body shown in profile with pointed rostrum and long antennae within a plain field. Set in an oval recess of a solid gold bezel, the thickened top merges into a continuous hoop of near-circular section that broadens at the shoulders and narrows to the back.
