ROMAN GREEN JASPER INTAGLIO DEPICTING MERCURY HOLDING A MONEY BAG IN GOLD RING. Ca. AD 50 - 200. A dark green jasper intaglio engraved with Mercury standing left, wearing a petasos, the right hand extended holding a money bag, a short staff set upright behind the left shoulder. The gem is set in an oval gold collet from which broad tapering shoulders pass into a flat-band hoop of sub-rectangular section that narrows towards the back. The ring of a possibly later period.
