ROMAN CHALCEDONY INTAGLIO DEPICTING APOLLO IN PROFILE IN GOLD RING. Ca. AD 1 - 200. A chalcedony intaglio engraved with the bust of Apollo in left profile, his head crowned with a laurel wreath. Set in an oval gold bezel with a slightly raised rim, the setting flows into broad shoulders and a tapered hoop of D-shaped section, forming a gold ring, possibly of a later date. For similar see: D.
