ROMAN BRONZE OIL LAMP WITH RAM’S HEAD HANDLE ON STAND.
Ca. AD 200 - 400.
A bronze lamp and a stand. The lamp has a globular body with a raised collar around the filling hole, and an elongated spout flanked by volutes that projects to a rounded nozzle. A ring handle at the rear rises to a ram’s-head thumb-rest. The stand is columnar with stacked elements and a flat drip tray, above a domed foot on three splayed legs.
