ROMAN CARNELIAN INTAGLIO DEPICTING LEGIONARY EAGLE GRASPING A SNAKE IN SILVER RING.
Ca. AD 200 - 400.
A carnelian intaglio engraved with a legionary eagle in mid-flight to the left, wings outstretched, the beak grasping a serpent. Set within a high circular box bezel with a plain rim, mounted on a silver ring of a possibly later period with broad flaring shoulders and a solid D-section hoop.

Provenance: From an old British collection formed in the 1990s; previously acquired in Austria.
