ROMAN CARNELIAN INTAGLIO DEPICTING ASCLEPIUS IN SILVER RING.
Ca. AD 1 - 300.
A carnelian intaglio engraved with Asclepius standing facing right, draped in a himation and holding his serpent-entwined staff, set on a ground line. The stone is set in an oval silver collet with a raised rim, and mounted on a possibly later silver ring of tapering profile.

Provenance: Private London collection, acquired on the German art market, Munich before 2000.
